In May 2005, five middle-aged men cycled from Whitehaven to Tynemouth. The route passed through Keswick and Penrith in the Lake District and onwards across the Pennines and down through Consett into Gateshead, across the Tyne into Newcastle, emerging at Tynemouth. We rode the 134 miles over 3 days, with route directions, overnight stops and baggage transfer provided by Saddle Skedaddle.
